Wollzeile Apartments
The listed Baroque house in Wollzeile was in need of renovation at the time of purchase. In recent years, the house has been completely renovated, and individual apartments have been transformed into high-quality “residences.”
In addition to its unique location in close proximity to Stephansplatz, the house is characterized by its elaborately accented facade and the Pawlatschengänge located in the courtyard. The latter were extensively renovated during the conversion to preserve the original character of the townhouse.
The property is a bourgeois house from the year 1712. However, the history of the building can be traced back to the Middle Ages. It is a particularly outstanding example of an early Baroque bourgeois house in the Inner City. The house was adapted for Sebastian Cichini in 1712. The entire building has been under monument protection since June 4, 1954.
It is a Baroque residential house with a rich facade decor and a two-story tower attachment. An elaborate Baroque entrance with double belts on pilasters immediately catches the eye when entering the building.
A spacious four-column staircase with sculpture niches on turning platforms extends through the entire staircase. The so-called “Pawlatschenhof” with an original roof truss and a tower attachment with a hoist, as well as numerous original building details inside, are still well-preserved. A two-story medieval vaulted cellar from the 14th century with high rooms and a generous room layout is one of the additional features of the property.
